Levendia Performances Throughout The Year

To realize the goals of the group, we required a good repertoire of dances that were at once true to the history of the dance and entertaining as well. A program of dances was formulated by our Artistic Directors and incorporated some fresh ideas with some traditional ones. There was also new staging and more difficult steps in these dance programs than what any member was accustomed to before, and the dance suites were different from anything that existed in the community at the time. Every detail, from the costumes to the music and dances we performed, was intentional. Every step, every handhold, and every solo had to be appropriate for the dance, as well as for the region it came from. We spent hours learning the dances, choosing the music, perfecting the techniques and begging others to borrow costumes so that every member of the group could perform on a stage with confidence, unity and showmanship.
